Indian Media - A Joke
Ever since I have started reading newspapers I have felt that Indian Media is nothing but a bunch of idiots thinking that the whole of India is filled with idiots like them. I mean I have read many of these articles that they write but most of them were purely based on idiotic conclusions that they came from asking some idiotic questions. I am really tired of them writing such articles in papers that not only is read here but also is read by many people across the world just to see how backward India actually is.
Indian media are just some news hungry people who are like magicians and can make doves out of thin air. They are also like those poets who live for exaggeration of the beauty but media people exaggerate the news. I really believe that it is not only Indian media that is like that but most of the media all over the world might be like this but Indian media definitely can make India look bad.
Indian News Media is a very powerful medium as it caters to the second largest populated country in the world. They are known to make a mountain out of a mole. There are many times when we, like normal Indians, feel that our country is being put to shame by the Indian News Media.
When a kid falls into an open well all of the news channels in India were standing on top of it, when the kid did come out they asked him was he scared inside the pit. That question did prove how idiotic Indian News Media can be. But I am not blaming them for that. There have been many instances where we have seen such kind of a thing happening. When recently Richard Gere kissed Shilpa Shetty on cheeks and mid you it was cheek, Indian Media wasn’t far behind to blow the thing out of proportion. Indian Media actually added fuel to the fire burning in the hearts of many of the “conservative” Indians. Those Indians had got an agenda to fight for at last. They were able to blow the thing out of proportion and even were able to register a case against them in a court were it was considered to be an erotic act in public. If kissing on cheeks in public is anywhere erotic then these people should stop marriages in India as that creates in many more erotic acts though not in public but at least that is much more erotic that this. They should also put all the married couples in jail just because they have a relationship. When everyone is coming to a new age Indian Media is helping the conservatives to get their way in India. By blowing this out of proportion India has been put in lines with conservative countries. Now all the media all over the world are happy to call India a third world country because such acts would have never taken place in any other country. That kiss should have been part of gossip mongers chat rather than that of a judicial court case. They even had a case for Hrithik and Aishwarya Rai(oops.. Bachan) kiss scene. I can say that scene was the worst kiss scene I had seen in my whole life and whoever found it indecent or erotic can be labelled as a pervert.
Now the thing that really ticked me off into writing this post is this article. The problem with this article is serious lack of information on part of the person who had written the article. The article starts with that journalist telling about a girl who had the problem of putting her pictures on net as it is a public domain. He never explained that sites like flickr have feature that allow people to keep their photos private but the journalist said that it was the problem of photo sharing sites. Later he alleges that Hackers and Phreakers, get into people computers and even relationships(which is definitely weird). Well, what he meant was that people use the photos on net to Photoshop them into something else. But the weird part is that he used Phreakers. I actually had no idea what a Phreaker is until my friend Harsh who told me about this article, told me that phreakers are a non existent type of hackers who hacked into phone systems. I was really feeling stupid, not because I didn’t know the meaning but that we as readers have nearly no knowledge and we read such things that gives us wrong information. In our schools teachers use to say that newspapers are the best source of English and that we can learn good English by reading a good English newspaper. The Hindu is definitely a very good English newspaper that is why I had never expected this on part of the paper. These are some little flaws in the news media that mislead common people who depend on them for news.
It’s not that I have any kind of personal grudge against any news channel or newspaper but unfortunately this is our current plight. I know that there are great journalists out there who care for a real story and rather than the spicy things wanted by the News Media Giants. I have nothing against the journalists proffession so don’t flame here for that. These are just my views and I will like contrasting comments but not flame comments.
Ban on blogs
Something that I had feared the day I had started blogging. I was always afraid that the Indian Goverment might take such steps. The goverment had ordered the Indian ISPs to ban 12 blogspot blogs as they were into terrorism and stuff. But our Indian ISPs are too lazy to even do one thing right, they outrightly banned all the blogger blogs resulting in many of our Indian blogspot bloggers not able to post there and they issued and idiotic statement to defend themselves.
Officials defended the decision saying, “We would like those people to come forward who access these (the 12) radical websites and please explain to us what are they missing from their lives in the absence of these sites.”
Read that whole article here.
What were they thinking when they issued such a statement, they don’t even know that people are not able to access there own blogs. Who cares for the 12 sites now because of the goverment’s decision all the indian bloggers of blogspot are not able to view their blogs.

Ban on right to express
Tamilnadu Govt bans the screening of Da Vinci Code which was slated to release on June 2nd.
Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction; still, many people take it upon themselves to make the work a religious controversy. Everyone has a right to express himself or herself in the free world. Movie and entertainment are forms of art. These forms of art should not be mixed with religious sentiments as they are meant to entertain the audience and not to disrupt the peace and harmony. Still we can see so many cases where people have linked the movie with their religious sentiments. The book itself was banned in many countries. The book is written by Dan Brown and books are supposed to be entertaining. Most books are works of fiction still people have protested against the book.
Not screening the film in many parts of the country leads to other problems such as piracy. As the film is not screened people tend to get the pirated copies of the movie and watch the film. As the film has created, no actually people have created controversies over the film so it makes the film more worthwhile to watch. The ban has done nothing but increase the interest of the people in the movie and this has given rise to piracy which is one of the problems faced by the film-makers nowadays.
We have seen such controversies in Indian cinemas also which was related to politics and regionalism.
Insight to Kerala Politics
I am well aware of my origins and I felt to blog this post. I am a malayalee and I am proud of that. But many people don’t know some things about Kerala. Everyone thinks that Kerala is very beautiful with its great scenic terrains and a place were there is highest literacy in India (I guess Mizoram has highest literacy rate now). But while everyone wishes that if only their state could also have high literacy rate and while people praise Kerala for the same, I say there is a downfall to that. Kerala has a negative side too. Kerala Politics according to me is the most dreaded politics you can ever witness. Though politics is a part and parcel of every state in India, somehow it has dug deep into the lives of a normal Keralite. Whenever someone leaves a house he has to check the newspaper for any strikes or bandhs which might have been announced by some political party or any trade unions. Some people might say that this is not the case, but recently my sister who had to attend her BBA exam was nearly going to miss it because of one of such bandhs. Think about the student’s mentality when he or she goes to write and exam in such a condition. Most of the political leaders are too inconsiderate. Most of the political parties use College students as their weapon. You might say that happens in all the states and maybe even in different countries, but the truth is its widespread and more gruesome in Kerala. Recently there had been great drama on one of the leaders of CPI (M) {Communist Party of India} party being thrown out and being taken in again. Though every state sees such dramas it’s too often in Kerala. Why? If that is the question that comes to your mind I say maybe that the population is too much educated or the population has no choice but to bear all the difficulties and keep quiet. Why is that? Why can’t we rise to this issue why does everyone have to bear this? I though don’t live in Kerala but whenever I go to Kerala I feel like even if I go will I be able to go around the place, with the amount of tensions and amount strikes there. But still I like my birthplace and I thought it would be nice for people to know about it. If you are a Keralite and reading this you may add to my post by commenting or criticize my post by commenting.
PS: In no way do I mean any harm to anyone but anyone reading this is hurt I apologize for it.
