TATA buys Jaguar and Land Rover
I am not going to go much into the detail how TATA motors bought Jaguar and Land Rover. I actually don’t care much about it. But the point I wanted to make was how cool the deal was. I mean look at it an Indian company owning two most recognized automobile brand. This is definitely more amazing than someone wasting as much money as India’s GDP to get some cars running. More on that topic later.
The deal was of around $ 2.3 billion which comes to around Rs. 9,300 crore. That is a huge amount considering that the company who bought these was a Indian company. They own all the intellectual property rights and factories which come under Jaguar and Land Rover. It seems they went with some agreement with the Ford Motor Corporation over this. That means they get the 3 factories owned by Jaguar and also 1500 workers with it. The Deal would officially be completed by the start of the next quarter.
Exciting thing here is that TATA, has now shown the world that India’s automotive companies’ capabilities are much higher and better than what the other countries expect. From what I see TATA may continue the manufacture of Jaguar and Land Rover in their respective factories and use the design ideas to build India specific cars. Importing the cars to India would be a costly affair which may be done for the rich and elite class in India.
Mumbai for Marathis
I have been reading and watching a lot about the statement made by Raj Thackrey on this topic that Mumbai is only for Marathis and everyone else should just pack their bags and leave. I understand that he has said this just so that, he can create rift among the people and get more votebanks, but the worst part of it was the violence which has followed this. It reminds me of the Gujarat incident where all the events that took place where mostly because of the various parties that wanted to create a divide among the people to gain vote from people of specific religion.
Mumbai is like India’s New York(not visually), where there are people of varied ethnicities living together. The divide that these people create just ends up making people feel, that they are right and everyone else is wrong. Such feeling creates problems such as, these violent acts that have taken place in Mumbai in the last week. Claiming Mumbai to belong to a certain group of people is not correct. Though it may not hurt the Marathis living in Mumbai but the Marathis who live in North India and other places in India will be discriminated against just because, someone thought it would be fun to stir up the people. I have had many Marathi friends over the years and they have been very nice to me. I don’t think they would be the people, who would like to fight others just because they live in their city. I personally feel the statement by Raj Thackrey was wrong at many levels.
The problem does not lie with the people but the infrastructure of the city. Even a small city can accommodate many people, if the infrastructure of that city is good. If Raj Thackrey had genuinely wanted good for the city, he should have brought all the problems faced by a common man in the city to light. I don’t understand what happened to the country, where everyone was proud to be an Indian and believed that all Indians are their brothers and sisters. I believe that even though schools make children recite the pledge everyday, they don’t exactly explain it’s meaning in the school. It shows how our education system lacks many fundamental things. If a person who studies in school that, all Indians should be proud of the fact that they are Indian and should never forget that, he or she would never be part of such regional fight. But I guess even schools have played a big part in creating this regional divide. Children are not taught to be patriotic. I have come across many students who have a strong hatred towards the country, which in turn comes out in such forms. Even though people say our country is progressing, such events remind us of the bitter truth that Indians still haven’t exactly developed in terms of their mind set.
I saw on some news channel someone had said that anyone can live in Mumbai without knowing Marathi but no one can live in Chennai without knowing Tamil. I found this to be totally nonsense since when I came to Chennai I didn’t even know one word in Tamil but since my mother tongue(Malayalam) is similar to Tamil I was able manage. Here the thing to be noted is that, since Marathi is similar to Hindi anyone knowing Hindi can get his work done in Mumbai. But what about the person who doesn’t know Hindi and Marathi, he might never be able to communicate with anyone ever. Same way if a person doesn’t know Malayalam and Tamil or any other South Indian language for that matter; is it so that the guy won’t be able to live in Chennai. But to tell that truth nowadays even in Chennai you can get things if you know English or Hindi. There is a really large population of North Indian people in Chennai which makes it easy for an outsider to interact with people since you can ask every second person to translate something for you or help you. Even though Tamilians here have problems with people of other states, they are less vocal about it since the major businesses here have a huge contribution of these people .
I truly believe that all this is just total gutter politics. Anyone who divides the people of any place on basis of their religion, region, skin colour or anything else is just trying to make people fight among each other and get his work done.I hope politicians of my generation would actually bother about the country rather than their own personal agendas.
God save the country.
Sania in Mecca Mosque case
It seems Sania just can’t stay without being in trouble. It seems that she was recently again in trouble when she shot for an Advertisement inside Mecca Mosque in Hyderabad without permission. It seems she shot the Ad wearing jeans and T-shirt hurting the Muslim sentiments.
This is not the first time that she has come under scanner by the Muslim Community. A fatwa had been issued earlier against her for wearing improper clothes. But it was proven to be wrong since that was the dress code of the game she plays. Well, it seems she can be in trouble for doing absolutely anything. Though trespassing is not being considered as a big deal but I must say it is a big issue. Police are saying its a petty case but I feel they are not looking at it as a whole. I mean how can anyone just barge into a religious place and do whatever they want. Though she has apologised to everyone regarding this, I would still say the case should be continued if not against her at least the Advertising firm since trespassing should be taken seriously. This was the statement issued by her:
‘‘It is with a deep sense of remorse that I would like to apologise to all my brothers, sisters and respected elders, who have been anguished by my entering a portion of the land belonging to the Mecca Masjid, while filming the Charminar with the intention of promoting the heritage monument. While I am fully aware that a woman must not enter the sanctity of the mosque, I was unaware that even entering the outside gates was seriously objectionable, specially without permission, which I was assured by the agency they possessed.”
This should be seen as a serious offence so that in future no other organisations go inside any religious places(Temples, mosques, churches and etc included) without proper permission of the authorities.
Moral Policing on Art
The incident that happend in the Maharaja SayajiRao Universirty in Vadodara has definitely made a mark. Art has always been considered free from all kinds of restrictions where all the artists can depict whatever their creative minds can spur. But moral policing on Art is not very welcome.
There were protests by some pro-hindu activists and they even harassed the student whose works were on display there and police arrested that student. I have just one question what were outsiders doing in a Fine Arts exam. I mean the students work was not public and even it was just meant for the evaluation by his faculty. There was absolutely no need for any kind of person to interfere with the examination process. MSU shouldn’t have allowed anyone into the Fine Arts exam hall display as it was not meant for public.
Indians have actually forgotten what it means to be civilised. There was no need for the protesters to vandalise the paintings. These people who vandalised those painting don’t actually know how difficult and time consuming art-work is; they didn’t have the civilised mind frame to first report it to the college authorities and have it removed rather than destroying them.
I understand that sometime people’s religious sentiments are hurt but violence is not the only way to get what one wants. We shouldn’t be eager to make violence our weapon, these things show to the world that we are nothing but a group of religious fanatics.
Indian Media - A Joke
Ever since I have started reading newspapers I have felt that Indian Media is nothing but a bunch of idiots thinking that the whole of India is filled with idiots like them. I mean I have read many of these articles that they write but most of them were purely based on idiotic conclusions that they came from asking some idiotic questions. I am really tired of them writing such articles in papers that not only is read here but also is read by many people across the world just to see how backward India actually is.
Indian media are just some news hungry people who are like magicians and can make doves out of thin air. They are also like those poets who live for exaggeration of the beauty but media people exaggerate the news. I really believe that it is not only Indian media that is like that but most of the media all over the world might be like this but Indian media definitely can make India look bad.
Indian News Media is a very powerful medium as it caters to the second largest populated country in the world. They are known to make a mountain out of a mole. There are many times when we, like normal Indians, feel that our country is being put to shame by the Indian News Media.
When a kid falls into an open well all of the news channels in India were standing on top of it, when the kid did come out they asked him was he scared inside the pit. That question did prove how idiotic Indian News Media can be. But I am not blaming them for that. There have been many instances where we have seen such kind of a thing happening. When recently Richard Gere kissed Shilpa Shetty on cheeks and mid you it was cheek, Indian Media wasn’t far behind to blow the thing out of proportion. Indian Media actually added fuel to the fire burning in the hearts of many of the “conservative” Indians. Those Indians had got an agenda to fight for at last. They were able to blow the thing out of proportion and even were able to register a case against them in a court were it was considered to be an erotic act in public. If kissing on cheeks in public is anywhere erotic then these people should stop marriages in India as that creates in many more erotic acts though not in public but at least that is much more erotic that this. They should also put all the married couples in jail just because they have a relationship. When everyone is coming to a new age Indian Media is helping the conservatives to get their way in India. By blowing this out of proportion India has been put in lines with conservative countries. Now all the media all over the world are happy to call India a third world country because such acts would have never taken place in any other country. That kiss should have been part of gossip mongers chat rather than that of a judicial court case. They even had a case for Hrithik and Aishwarya Rai(oops.. Bachan) kiss scene. I can say that scene was the worst kiss scene I had seen in my whole life and whoever found it indecent or erotic can be labelled as a pervert.
Now the thing that really ticked me off into writing this post is this article. The problem with this article is serious lack of information on part of the person who had written the article. The article starts with that journalist telling about a girl who had the problem of putting her pictures on net as it is a public domain. He never explained that sites like flickr have feature that allow people to keep their photos private but the journalist said that it was the problem of photo sharing sites. Later he alleges that Hackers and Phreakers, get into people computers and even relationships(which is definitely weird). Well, what he meant was that people use the photos on net to Photoshop them into something else. But the weird part is that he used Phreakers. I actually had no idea what a Phreaker is until my friend Harsh who told me about this article, told me that phreakers are a non existent type of hackers who hacked into phone systems. I was really feeling stupid, not because I didn’t know the meaning but that we as readers have nearly no knowledge and we read such things that gives us wrong information. In our schools teachers use to say that newspapers are the best source of English and that we can learn good English by reading a good English newspaper. The Hindu is definitely a very good English newspaper that is why I had never expected this on part of the paper. These are some little flaws in the news media that mislead common people who depend on them for news.
It’s not that I have any kind of personal grudge against any news channel or newspaper but unfortunately this is our current plight. I know that there are great journalists out there who care for a real story and rather than the spicy things wanted by the News Media Giants. I have nothing against the journalists proffession so don’t flame here for that. These are just my views and I will like contrasting comments but not flame comments.
Bob Woolmer Murdered
Well, it seems Jamaican Police after their intensive investigation for three days they have concluded that Bob Woolmer died under mysterious circumstances and that it suggests its murder. This is what the cricketnext site says about Woolme’rs death as said by Jamaican Police officials:
The police termed the nature of death as “suspicious” and said it is
possible that Woolmer’s food was poisoned. They, however, clarified
that suspicion doesn’t necessarily mean a negative outcome.
It seems there has been a rumour on the rumour-mill about Woolmer that he was about to burst the bubble of some Pakistani players who were indulged in Match-Fixing.
Though it’s not a confirmed rumour but that is the only present rumour that tells why he could have died. There is also some news about him writing a book detailing about these things which could have really shown some light on the match-fixing matters.
It was earlier reported that he was found unconscious in his hotel room and was declared brought dead in a Jamaican Hospital. Actually the defeat
of Pakistan could have been a good way to put an end to his life by anyone who didn’t want to him to live. But, it might simply be a case of suicide as nothing is proved exactly.
