BitComet Scheduler Tutorial
Well I had thought of writing the whole tutorial on how to make the scheduler of BitComet work. So I installed it(I personally would never recommend it to anyone) and then went to options and scheduler. Then I saw something I had never expected to see. The scheduler was exactly like the one in utorrent with no changes. And I can even prove that since I took screenshot of both to compare. This here is BitComet’s Scheduler.
And this is Utorrent’s Scheduler.
So if you want to know how to schedule downloads on BitComet you can just take a look at the Scheduling in Utorrent post that I had done some months back the only difference would be is that the first two steps given there are changed a bit I will list that here.
1. Start your BitComet and click on the Preferences button in the Toolbar as shown below.
2. Then click on Scheduler in the preferences box as shown in the screenshot below.
Then follow the third step from the post here.
Scheduling in Utorrent
I have been thinking to type this for a long time now. I had taken screen shots for this long time back. I have now got the time and the mind to type. Now below is the simplest way to setup scheduling in utorrent. It’s quite easy since scheduling is an internal part of it rather than like in Azureus, where it is a plugin so read this carefully. Though it’s quite self explanatory still newbies will like this as I have explained this step by step.
These are the steps you will have follow to get scheduling working. I have taken the model time for the scheduler to work from 2:00am to 7:59am (BSNL Dataone free timing).
- Start your utorrent and press Ctrl+P or go to Options->Preferences.

- Then click on Scheduler.
- Now you will have to enable the scheduler for which you will have to check the box which says “Enable Scheduler”. This will allow for us to start the Scheduler.

- Next step needs a bit of explaining. You can see that there are some thing around 24 boxes X 7 rows = 168 boxes. The rows represent each day from Monday to Sunday and each of the 24 boxes next to the days represent 59 minutes of the day starting from 12:00 am to 12:59 am and ending at 23:00 to 23:59. Then there are the dark green boxes, light green boxes and white boxes. The dark green boxes means that at that specific time the download will be at full speed. The light green box means the speed of the torrents will be according to what you set (which can be set below it). The white box means the downloads are queued or to put simply waiting for the right time. Here you can change the color in the box by simply clicking them once to make them light green and again to make it white and again to make it dark green again (One small trick is to make one box white and without clicking again or releasing the mouse button move the mouse to the parts which you want to keep white, it makes it easy). I have done the setting in picture above for your reference. Another thing to note is that you will never have to use the light green color box but you can use it to keep the bandwith usage to minimum but it might spike sometimes increasing from the speed set by you, so beware.
- So just simply click “Apply” and “OK” to finish it.
Now you can sleep safely and be rest assured that your utorrent will download all those things you want correctly at the free time. And if you are scared that the BSNL Dataone times might be late just change your desktop clock to about 10 mins or so late, just to be on the safer side.

Utorrent Feed Reader Tutorial
I had read about feed readers in torrent client but never really knew how to use them. It was hard for me to understand those difficult tutorials. Atlast now I have understood how to use them and I thought why not put it up as a post. This is a very simplified version of tutorial that I had found somewhere which is not in public domain.
Time your Torrent
To all those Indians suffering Dataone Broadband and its free “Night” Time downloading is nothing but hell. Now we reach to all those Bittorrent Users who really die out waiting to sit till 2 am to start their downloads and they never even think of uploading as it is not easy to sit till 2 am just for starting seed. So they(including me) all become leechers thrown out of the torrent sites for leeching at it ends up in nothing so what do we do; simple go and join other sites but till when will this continue. The only way anyone could think of seeding if the downloads started automaticaly at 2 am(like a download manager). And one thing is that you just cant find a client with scheduler. I was ready to switch to any client for this thing but no client gave me scheduler. So Riyaz Usman(a.k.a DesertWind of Digitforums) informed me yesterday about a speed scheduler for Azureus;here is a wiki on it. He gave me all instructions about it and I will share it with everyone.
Firstly Download Azureus if you dont have it, then download speed scheduler from this link. Install the plugin by going to plugin->installlation wizard in Azureus and then install by file broswe to the file of the plugin in your PC then its done. Now you need to schedule it. I was recommended this schedule by Desert Wind which is mainly for 2 am to 8 am downloads you may go according to what unlimited time you have. Here is how you should set it.
First go in plugins->Speed scheduler clcik it. It will open as another tab in next to your download window then put these three settings.
- Click New schedule now tick the pause downloads and and pause seeds option then select all the days. then in timings keep it from 8:00 am to 11:59 pm and press OK
- Once again click New schedule now tick the pause downloads and and pause seeds option then select all the days. then in timings keep it from Midnight to 2:00 am and press OK
- Once again click New schedule now untick the pause downloads and and pause seeds option then select all the days. then in timings keep it from 2:00 am to 8:00 am and press OK
Now your settings should look like this.

After this put all what you want to download in the Azureus and keep it switched on at night before going to sleep this way you can download and seed so happy seeding and leeching.
Note: Using Bittorent is not illegal but what you download from it maybe illegal
