I normally don’t write such small posts but it would be a waste to write a big post for this. The Illusionist is a 2006 movie. The
movie is just simply fantastic. It is based on Steven Millhauser’s story “Eisenheim the Illusionist”. The movie has been
shot brilliantly. The only problem with the movie was that when Sophie dies it’s quite clear that it might be Eisenheim’s
illusion. Nevertheless it was a wonderful movie.

I am a bit late for this though it has been more than 3 days since I saw the movie, I have was not able to post since I was in Mumbai and Vodafone thought it would be good to not activate my GPRS for apparently no reason and even after a week it hasn’t been activated(It’s a different story). Well I saw the movie at Fame multiplex in Mumbai at 10:45 since it’s hard to find tickets for other shows.
Review:
So, lets talk about the movie. The story is not at all difficult to understand, it’s simple re-birth story of how the hero dies in 70’s trying to save the girl he loves and is reincarnated. First thing everyone should realise that, movie is made by people who made Main Hoon Na so one thing no one should expect is, story. The movie is actually more or less fast the narration gets into overdrive when they reach 2nd half. SRK remembers his past life just 10 -20 minutes into the 2nd half of the movie. I found that quite ridiculous but still they didn’t prolong it and made it short and sweet. This is one of those masala movies that can boast of action, drama, comedy, romance, thriller, horror(yeah horror too),a little bit of suspense(only tiny bit) and many more genres.
There are many moments where you might feel that the movie is totally senseless and doesn’t bother at all about logic but if you had expected an oscar winning story, then it’s definitely your fault. It’s one of those movies that is just meant to entertain you and nothing else. I personally many times hated the movie just because of not having any logic whatsoever, but still the movie was an entertainer. In Main Hoon Na the ending was a big let down, it was a total what the fuck moment for me when the movie ended. Something that I had really liked about Main Hoon Na was also present in Om Shanti Om, the way they show each and every on screen is the best part. You get to know who all worked on the film. Deepika Padukone was the real treat in the movie, you get to listen some good dialogues from her in the first half and in second half she is wasted(even SRK is wasted but still). Arjun Rampal felt a bit different I wasn’t hoping to see many variations in his expressions but to my surprise he did have different expressions. The second half wasted many of the characters and just rushed to the conclusion. I should specially mention Shreyas Talpade and Kiron Kher who excellently portrayed their roles and were able to do quite a lot of justice to their characters. The acting by the whole crew in the first half was very good though it deteriorated in the 2nd half which I believe is mostly because of fast narration and hasty conclusion.
Though the film has had it share of controversies including Manoj Kumar controversy, it all helps in making the film more popular. Even the blatant copying from the candian film Kopps was criticized by many. I felt that scene was quite funny, though I don’t think family audience would like it very much. I felt a big part of the success of the movie goes to the songs of the movie too. All the songs from Dard-e-Disco to Jag soona soona lage were very nice and gave the movie a very good feeling. I personally feel that Farah Khan has come a long way(on the same road though) since Main Hoon Na. I won’t rate the movie or anything since most of the people might have rated it but one thing I would say is even if you hate Sharukh Khan or SRK and Farah Khan combination, you should definitely watch this movie for Deepika Padukone because she just looks awesome in the movie.
So I would conclude this review by saying that whatever anyone says this movie will definitely rake in a lot of moolah and will entertain lots of people because cinema was made for entertainment.

If you have no idea what I am going to blabber about just check this link. The DVD is releasing on 14th August, I thought why not write about it since I got to see it. Its funny how Marvel picked up one of the lesser known characters from it’s universe for making it into a STV(Straight to Video) animated movie. But hey I am not complaining I have always liked Dr. Strange’s character so no problem for me.

The main thing about the film is that they have changed the origin story of the Doctor Strange but only a little bit. The first introduction of Doctor Strange where he sees the wizards fighting the dark creature even though they had used a cloaking spell was the best. I will give a synopsis of the story:
Dr. Stephen Strange was one of the most gifted surgeons in medicine before his hands were left shattered and useless as a result of a car crash. Spending his fortune in pursuit of a way to fix his fractured body, the dejected doctor believed all was lost until the Ancient One offered him hope and healing in Tibet.
Training mind, body and soul with the Ancient One and his pupils, Doctor Strange’s scope, power and compassion grows as he steps closer to his mystical fate. But to fully embrace his destiny and protect the worlds of magic and reality, Strange must face betryal, death and the emergence of Dormammu.
The way the depict the training of Doctor Strange is wonderful, it’s all about learning magic and accepting the unacceptable. We see how a disheartened surgeon becomes the Sorcerer Supreme of the earth realm. The last fight with Dormammu ended to fast I believe they could have made it a bit more longer.
Coming to the animation. I for one have really liked the other three Direct-to-Video animation films by Marvel(Ultimate Avengers, Ultimate Avengers 2 and The Invincible Iron Man). This one also had very crisp animation. The character designs were excellent except for Dormammu since it seemed he was more or less just made of fire and some weird lines; other than that the other character designs were great. The character design of Doctor Strange was very good. They showed three different types of designs for him. First was when he was a surgeon and the next when he loses all his hope and became destitute. The third one was of him becoming the Doctor Strange and the clothes were really cool. The most unfortunate thing is that this the only animated movie that will ever be made for Doctor Strange since the next and the last animated film that Marvel is going to make with Lions Gate is Avengers Reborn(about kids of Avengers becoming the New Avengers or something). At the end of the film when Wong says that they have found new prospects and one of them named Clea seems to be the best was a great dialogue which suggested a possible sequel but as we know that is not going to happen. So, this was my small review on Doctor Strange Animated Film 2007.

Yeah I don’t know why but I simply love this picture. Maybe it’s her pose that makes the picture perfect.
So now coming to the movie, I have always loved reading all the books in the Harry Potter series but The Order of Phoenix was one of those books which I actually don’t include into my favourites since I found it quite boring. But there were nearly hundred or something pages that I had found quite interesting in the book; actually some of the scenes were quite thrilling. I always thought when I read the book that they will use the only good part from the book.

I am quite happy they did exactly the same thing. They used only the best parts from the book and made it into the movie. Unfortunately I reached only when Harry had reached
I normally watch Harry Potter now just to see how much did they deviate from the book and it seems they did a lot of that in this movie. Thought it was very close to the book there were many minor deviations too which can obviously be noticed by any reader.
Atlast I would say this was a very good effort. I mean this would be one with my other favourites like The Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban. I would say this will complete my top three favourite movies in the series. I guess this film deserves 3.5/5.

As it has been quite a while since the movie has released writing a review would be totally worthless. So I thought why not just write whatever I felt about the movie than making it into a review. I saw Spiderman 3 on last Friday as I was not able to score tickets for the movie for Saturday and Sunday before that.

After I had seen the last Harry Potter movie trailers I was pretty much sure I would not like it because as a book fan they removed a lot of things from it. Now, when the new movie is coming I had my own apprehensions as I didn’t really like the book. The book was just the build up for the book after it, so it made the reading a little boring compared to the other books where I was gripped the whole time.
I have been seeing HP-OOP trailer all over the place and I must say that I liked it very much. I guess they have used only the best part out of the whole book and that made it eeasy for them to compress the whole thing into one movie. The effects of the movie seems to be getting better and better which should be happening considering the improvement animation technology. I guess they might be probably changing small parts of the story here and there to make it easy to tell.
It seems it will release here on 13th July too which is quite good considering that I can watch it in theatres as I have my holidays going on. I am really excited about the movie and I feel like they should put the whole unedited movie into the DVD like it was done with the Lord of The Rings where the movies on DVD were nearly of 4 and a half hours.
