Open SuSE with Beryl

I would like to start with saying people on windows who haven’t seen a 3D desktop definitely need to read this one. I have been using windows for years now and have heard many people say that linux is the most unfriendliest operating system, I never asked questions about it. Blogging as a Subject

I for the first time really mean what my title says. I had just a thought what would happen if in some near future blogging actually became a topic in the curriculum of the schools. We might see a mad rush of young students coming out to blog on net and actually competing with their fellow classmates probably for grades. Maybe their grades will be determined by the pagerank they have for their own blog.

Though it’s a quite innovative idea I believe, but bad for the health of upcoming bloggers as many of those kids might grow up to take blogging as an interest and end up thinking that blogging is just about pageranks. One might presume that nothing good might come out of this but actually someting good will come out of it.

Someone with a spirit of a true blogger might end up making a blog that would tell others about the happenings of the school. They might not blog for the grades but for the pure joy of freedom a blogger gets while typing a post. They would definitely be the true bloggers who will or may take up blogging seriously in life.

Many subjects have been degraded just because they were pulled into the curriculum making them a part of the studies. I personally believe that subjects like arts and crafts should never be part of curriculum  but should be extracurricular activities though many schools in Inida have them as subjects making them a subject were kids compete rather than enjoying what they are doing. Heck I would say adding computers to curriculum is bad as some people have keen interest and want to learn something different in computers but as they are limited to their schools, they learn nothing but old programs and stuff that is near obsolescence and teachers who don’t know anything other than what the kids have in their books.

But unfortunately we can’t stop time and as time flies by these words may come true at some point making the whole blogging scenario nothing but a big joke.

Fedora Core 6 works

FC6 obviously did work before also but I meant to say that at last a Linux distro is working on my PC. Ever since I had upgraded I had problems in installing NIC drivers for my in-built Ethernet port. There was no hope for it to be installed in my Ubuntu because of various reasons but even my FC5 won’t install leaving me with no choice but to back away from Linux.

Some days back I met Harsh(Qwerty) who gave me FC6 DVD and I thought why not try it, so I emptied the whole 20 GB drive and used it to install FC6. It was just for checking basis so didn’t care for much details. When it was installed I was able to see the name of my in-built NIC in the network options which made me to enter the IP and stuff, and what you know it worked. I wanted to straighten out some things in but could not as for a month or two now my monitor has gone bad making it difficult to view the screen. I will buy a new monitor soon and begin working on Linux until then its again on hold.

As Harsh has been trying out OpenSuse and has given me nice opinions about it, so I most probably might try it too since I will free up another 20 GB drive from my PC. I still hope Ubuntu  worked on my PC.

Last but not the least the song by Good Charlotte from the Album Young and Hopeless, Boys and Girls, is really an awesomely true song.

No more Hutch Pugs

The biggest news surrounding Indian Telecom Industry is the acquisition of Hutch. But not yet, Hutch hasn’t been sold to anyone. Hutch is taking in bids for selling the company.

Hutchison Essar Limited also known as Hutch will soon be taken over by a bigger Telecom company. Ever since the news about the bidding started only three companies have come in news who definitely will bid for it.

The first one to bid for Hutch is our very own Reliance Communications which is under Anil Ambani. They were the first to announce that they were going to bid for acquiring  Hutch. Everyone is fully aware of the current situation of Reliance but if they are able to make this deal into a reality they will become most probably the 2nd or even the number 1 Telecom company in India  with hight amount of user base. I personally don’t want this to happen, I don’t think Reliance will be able satisfy all the custmors(as if it is satisfying anyone now).

The second to bid is Vodafone. Vodafone was looking for a chance to enter Indian market and this would be the best way to do it by getting one of the best Telecom companies of India. There is not much to say about them but even if they do not get Hutch they will definitely get into the Indian Telecom Market.

The third and the most amusing one is Essar. Essar is actually the current partner of Hutchison in India, but it’s clear that they want the whole Hutch to their name. Though the news is not exactly accurate but most probably they are going to bid for the acquisition of Hutch.

I would definitely want to see who among these wins and my best bet would vodafone but still it’s Hutch’s choice. And yeah most probably we won’t see the pug any more so that is kind of sad.

No $100 in India

This seems to be the plan of the Indian Government. Everyone must have heard about the $100 Laptop project, which was aimed to make cheaper laptops and make them available to children all over the world. Continue reading ‘No $100 in India’

The year 2006 As It Was

Well I was thinking about all the things that had happened in the year 2006 and out of all this the only thing I could remember perfectly is the take-over of Youtube by Google and also the release of all the Next Generation Console.
