My Favourite Players
No, I am not talking about any cricket, baseball, hockey or football players. I mean my favourite media players. And for that I got two best players on my PC to compensate with my low system resources. One is Foobar2000 and another one is VLC Player. Both are specific and have their own purposes.
Foobar2000
Foobar2000 is for only music and nothing else. The best thing is that it supports most of the music formats. It’s very easy to use and very low on system resources. The fun with is that you can work even on photoshop without the song skipping. This was the main reason I switched to it. I first came to know about it some 8 months back on the oobertech.net forum where people were showing how they moded their foobar2000. It was then out for sheer that I downloaded it and followed the method how other’s were modding their foobar2000. Soon I realized it was simply the best music player out there. The best part is its playlist and you can make many playlist according to your wants and if you mod it properly
its easy to use too. It’s a geek’s pleasure to work on it, modding it, putting more and more of the features made by other guys. You can work on till you fall. These reasons make it the best music player other than the awesome sound quality and how everything is integrated into one thing rather than being split like winamp (but I used to like winamp). Here is how I have modded my own foobar2000.

This is one is with Fresco VS on system and my own fresco play buttons. Yeah! You can make your own play pause buttons and all, its the best thing for any photoshop loveing geek.

This one is my current setup with my own buttons named the buttons pure grey. The VS is Sirius with white sub style. And I was in hospital after the songs were over due to acute tension and fear of songs created by the song which was playing at the time of screenshot
VLC Player
Well I guess this player does not require any introductions as this is already famous now but I would love to point out its best qualities. First of all what I liked is how it’s low on resources. I can’t claim it to be the lowest on resources but with the amount of features it has I am amazed after having so many qualities it’s so small. Man the guys who make VLC have a done a very good work on it. It even can be skinned for all those skin freaks but I really don’t care about the skin of my media player as I don’t look at it, I will look at the film rather than looking at the skin. Controls are quite simple and getting used to it is very easy. You can play nearly all of the media files in it without installing any 3rd party codec pack including Divx and Xvid. I must say it’s very great. It feels like fun to use it. They also say that it has 200% volume increase and I believe them as it really does give nice amount of volume output. For a screenshot here is one with an Indian movie (I own the original DVD) on it.

The movie is Hulchul for all those who want to know from my favourite director Priyadarshan and also remake of the Malayalam film “Godfather if I remember correctly.

I started using Foobar , it is good but it doesnt support wma files but still memory usage is quite low compared with winamp . But VLC simply rocks
April 11th, 2006 at 3:22 pm
I never tried a wma file. But anyways i have the foo_wma which means my foobar is complete supports everything currently I am using the older version of foobar (that is 0.8.3) as the special pack of 0.9 is still in beta as soon as its out of beta I will use that.
See foobar has everything just some plugins the size of ants and you get the perfect player if you hate to download the plugin download the special pack it has everything

I like foobar2000, but prefer musikCube

VLC Player on the other hand rocks my socks! I remember having the biggest problem ever with watching .avi files. I downloaded god knows how many codecs to try and make them work with WMP. Luckily I found VLC

The best thing about VLC is that it can literaly play any media file without extra codecs even it can play the 3gp files of the mobiles
